Heritage Lottery Funds

In November 2018 we were very honoured to receive Heritage Lottery funding for a phase one Resilience Project to safe guard Zebu after the calamitous sinking episode, and which served to establish the core team needed to move forward towards the goal of a full restoration and conservation project.

Following these initial crucial repairs after the out of water inspection survey, for the last two years we have been working hard to complete the urgent repairs to the hull and have been able to obtain a seaworthiness certificate from the MCA. Zebu is now water tight, cleaned up and being professionally maintained by our permanent crew and many valued willing volunteers.

“We have gone as far as we can with keeping this beautiful ship afloat and open to the public but now this much-needed additional funding injection will pay for the second stage of Zebu’s restoration on the way to being 100% powered by renewable energy. We are very grateful to all National Lottery players for making this possible.”

In June 2019 we were honoured to receive a second National Lottery Heritage Fund grant for phase two of the Zebu Restoration Project to continue working to return the ship to its former glory.

“Using money raised by the National Lottery, we inspire, lead and resource the UK’s heritage to create positive and lasting change for people and communities, now and in the future.”

Zebu has now undergone more urgent conservation to achieve seaworthiness once again.
